the treacle background

Treacle Kids is the brainchild of Kim Colley, an experienced art director who has more than 20 years' experience in magazine and brochure design. “I got the idea for Treacle Kids in 2004 when I was working on a magazine for supermarket giant Tesco and I suddenly needed to organise a photoshoot. There was only one problem: it was the run up to Christmas and all the model agencies had shut down. So I had no option but to ask my friends for help.” Two years later Kim launched Treacle Kids with the sole purpose of taking the hassle out of booking kids for photoshoots. “There's nothing worse for an art director,” says Kim, “than booking a child based on a smiley photograph in a big portfolio, only to get on location and that child clams up because the face doesn't fit the photograph.” Before any child is accepted onto the Treacle Kids books, we invite them to a studio screening where we photograph them in a natural, realistic way. Kim attends each photoshoot to ensure the parents are happy with the set up and each child is photographed in the best way possible. If they spend the full session in fits of laughter, or running around like the Duracell bunny, then that's how we photograph them. That way, you know exactly what you're paying for. |
